Victor Martinez hit two home runs and the Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins 6-3 on Friday night. Anibal Sanchez (2-0) gave up three runs and six hits with five strikeouts and three walks in 5 2/3 innings for the Tigers, who lost star Miguel Cabrera to a right clavicle contusion in the fourth inning. Cabrera had X-rays that were negative and is listed as day-to-day.

All-Star point guard John Wall and the Washington Wizards have agreed to a $170 million, four-year contract extension that will start with the 2019 season, two people with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Friday night. The people confirmed the terms of the agreement to the AP on condition of anonymity because the Wizards have not officially announced the deal.

T.J. Rivera put the Mets ahead in the sixth inning with a two-run single that turned into a Little League home run. Moments earlier, New York loaded the bases when Lucas Duda's bad-hop infield single struck first baseman Ryon Healy near the temple.

A commanding lead had been reduced to one run during a wild ninth inning, and the Houston Astros found themselves turning to their closer to hold off the Baltimore Orioles. Rookie Yuli Gurriel had a career-high four hits, including a home run, and the Astros squeezed out an 8-7 victory on Friday night to end Baltimore's four-game winning streak. Houston took an 8-2 lead into the ninth before Adam Jones hit a two-run double off James Hoyt and Jonathan Schoop homered with two on against Chris Devenski.
